Don't be afraid, g tubes are easy. I know it looks / sounds scary but they are not. When you have the g tube you can separate her feeding & swallowing issue from eating and nutrition. Meaning you can tube feed all the nutrients she needs so she can grow & be healthy while separately working on the feeding and swallowing issue at whatever pace she can handle. My son could not swallow and had severe reflux. He had the tube from infancy until he was 4. Trust me it's not rocket science once you have someone walk you through it a couple times you will be doing it with ease. It cuts down on your stress and worrying, if she had a " bad feeding day" you just pour some formula in her and call it good. You will be free to have fun and enjoy feeding her without worrying that is " enough." When my son got to where he could properly eat the dr took it out and put a regular 'ol band aid over the hole and it closed In a couple days.

yall make it sound sooooooo easy my friend has to cath her dd and i know she was scared at first but now does it with ease. i guess if you have to you will...ok well we go back to the GI in a few weeks(2 i think) and im getting the SLP written to the treatment plan thing monday(its in the works i just need to sign something) then i can make an appt with the speech people at the childrens hospital.
she did really well today but thats been the norm. 3-5 "off days" then 2-3 "good" days. im still kind of hopeful she does well in the next two weeks though....we did start putting coconut oil in her night bottle, just a little bit, to get some extra calories in her. the doc ok'd it

Good luck mama! It sucks when every feeding becomes a documented event and you are stressing about every single ounce.
