Re: Does everyone wash their baby clothes before they use them?
I wash everything before anyone wears it. You never know who touched it. They put sizing and other chemicals on them. And if its come from a third world country there is probably bedbugs since they are really bad over there. I also wash used clothing before anyone uses it because quite frankly, you just don't know what they did with them and if they were washed and what they were washed in (I'm allergic to a lot of detergents).

Re: Does everyone wash their baby clothes before they use them?
A lot of things are shipped in cardboard which is treated with lots of nasty chemicals and pesticides to keep bugs out. I definitely wash things before using/wearing them -- especially newborn things.
I don't worry much at all about things being touched in stores, as germs just don't live *that* long in fabrics, but I do not like pesticides. Even organic clothing can come into contact with lots of them just from shipping!

Re: Does everyone wash their baby clothes before they use them?
Clothes = chemical processes to make them. Heck yes I wash them before wearing. It's true that clothes look so nice straight off the rack but they always smell 'new' like a new car smell does, and those are some of the most toxic smells.

I'm surprised No one has mentioned ... Baby clothes shrink a lot. There were some times I didn't wash things, then j let my son wear them and then washed them and they didn't fit again. If you wash them first, you are more likely to notice the correct fit.
