OMG!!! I just saw a "15 year old" seat on freecycle!

I was just going through emails from over the weekend and I stubbled on this (by someone who says they have a PhD) on our local freecycle group.
Quote:
Century Breverra booster seat, model 4885, about 15 years old
plastic seat intact
upholstery stained, but clean
elastics on upholstery have lost their stretch -- they're loose, but could
be replaced
Includes 5-point harness and seat belt clip
Can be used w/shoulder belt rather than harness for children at least 40
pounds
Can you even imagine putting a child in this seat? And at 40 lbs lap belt training them??? My son was 40 lbs at 3... NOOOOO!!!

That is terrible! But on the 40 lbs part my 7 year old is only 42 pounds. She was a huge baby and now she is lanky. She is in a harness but could safely ride in a booster.

Yeah DS hasn't grown much weight wise since he was 3, but I the way that is worded made me think that people would think as soon as your child is 40 lbs, they should be lap belt trained. My 4 year old isn't ready for that yet. At 7 I would hope he would be.

Oh and both my dd1/2 didn't way 40 lbs until 6. Dd4 is almost 3 and has weighed 26/27 lbs for a year. My girls seem to gain very little weight between 2~6 . my ds though weighed 32 lbs at a year

I have done this before. With my last trade in I found a graco stroller (one from the travel system) on the side of the road.

I am suprised they are not charging for a "vintage" seat. I have seen this so many times on our local CL. They always get flagged.

I thought car seats had a life span of 4-7 years!!!! Even if they were not on a car accident.

They do and it should be flagged that is a death trap for a baby, also most kids outgrow carseats height wise well before the weight limit

Please message the moderator, those are not allowed on our freecycle. We strictly forbid out dated car seats. I moderate our local group, group rules may vary, but they should have this rule, it's a no brainer.
