traveling question

Hi!

So we are traveling to visit out of town family for a wedding in a few days (for a few days).

Normally, my 6 1/2 year old is harnessed in a Graco Nautilus. She is 43lbs, and 3 feet, 10 inches tall. She is the flower girl.

We will be using my parents car while we are there...and we will have 3 properly fitting and harnessing carseats across the back of their vehicle for my 3 children.

With that being said, there will be 2 occasions where she will need to ride in a different car to get her to and from the rehearsal and the wedding. Taking one of the harnessing carseats out of the other car will not be an easy option since I am going to be 37 1/2 weeks pregnant for this occasion and the only person who knows how to properly install the carseats.

I have a lowback booster seat that I can bring with us....she has ridden in a car before in the lowback booster (on rare occasion), and she knows how to sit still with the seatbelt positioned properly...and it hits her just fine. The truth is, it just makes me nervous to have her ride like this.

There is no amount of money that would prevent me from keeping my children safe...but I also want to be realistic.

Is a harness that much more safe?

If you were in my situation, what would you do? I've given some thought to just buying an inexpensive seat once we get there in order to keep her harnessed.

help??

Re: traveling question

If the booster fits her, and she'll sit nice, I'd do the booster. There is no data that shows that kids over 4 who can sit properly are any safer harnessed than in a booster.

In that situation I would use the backless booster without hesitation.
