Think head down thoughts for me :)

I went for my 37 week appt w/ my midwife yesterday and our little girl was in what she thinks could be a breech position. Going for an ultrasound today to find out. She still moves a lot, so I am not too concerned, but if she is breech, I have to switch over to the OBs @ the clinic I go to, and I like the midwives SOOO much better than the OBs. Also, I know the OBs will want to do a version asap, and I am just not sure if I want to do that or give her time to turn..

Other than that, I was a finger tip dilated..kinda stinks b/c I have had SO many contractions, lol..

If you had to transfer, I wouldn't let them do a version just yet - if she's still got room to flip, there's no point in doing a version as she'll just flip back, kwim? If she's getting more crowded, not flipping anymore, then I'd try the version.

Good luck! Have you tried any of the spinning baby techniques? My LO just turned from transverse to head down(I'm pretty sure!)

I am hoping to put off a version as long as possible. I know that she still has time..she was still flipping around on Wed night, so I think I might be able to put it off for a week or so. We will see what the OBs say. I usually have homebirths, so I am not familiar w/ what the general practice is for a breech baby.

For almost all OBs (especially those in the US), breech = automatic c-sec. They will very likely want to schedule it, not allow you to wait for labor to start - although I can see the validity in that, because a breech presentation can increase the risks of cord prolapse.
And if the MWs are saying you have to transfer with a breech baby, that means their hands are tied for allowing an attempt for vaginal breech birth.

Depending on baby's positioning/presentation, a vaginal breech birth can happen - some presentations are not compatible with it, though. Definitely need an u/s to confirm that.
For example, frank breech is the ideal presentation for vaginal delivery - this is when baby is folded in half, feet up to head, bum down.
My DS2 was not in an ideal position - his bum was in my left hip, legs across my cervix, feet in my right hip, head under my ribs on my right.

Oh shoot, can't believe I didn't mention it before! Do you see a chiropractor, or have you before? Some chiros are trained in the webster technique which is quite successful in flipping breech babies! Before I would do a version with the OBs, I would call around and find a trained chiro and give that a chance.

Good news, she is head down With her little hand right on top of her head which is why I feel poking around my cervix, lol..
They even did a few 3D pics for me and she is just precious. Looks exactly like my oldest daughter. They did all the regular checks too, everything looked great. Thanks everyone!
