My True Fit is too big front to back. What should I buy?

I have a Ford Freestyle and my DD is rear facing in her True Fit Premier. She's almost to the red line so I took the head rest out to the car today and put it on. The front passenger seat has to be jammed all the way forward to the dash. I am kicking myself because I should have checked it before we bought the seat.

So now I'm debating buying a new car seat, one that isn't quite so big. What would work for us? I'd prefer it to have an easily removable seat cover and EASY to tighten the straps. Or should I just suck it up? I tried sitting in the front passenger seat today and had to move to the back because I was claustrophobic.

Usually when they're old enough/big enough for the headrest you can also make the seat more upright by pushing down where the babies' feet go while you tighten the seatbelt or latch strap. It should give you some more space.

Have you tried installing more upright? If she's big enough to need the headrest she shouldn't need the newborn angle anymore.

Sent from my phone. Please excuse typos.

I have a Ford Flex and a True Fit. It fits behind the driver seat even when my DH has the seat all the way back. My son is older, but I put it on the most upright RF setting and push at the feet and it fits great. I have had a Radian, Britax marathon, and an evenflo symphony back there, and the true fit fits as well or better than all those. You should be able to get it to fit.

The newer line of Britax convertibles takes up the least front-back space of any "big" convertible - Roundabout 55, Marathon 70, Boulevard 70, Pavilion 70CS, Advocate 70CS. But before getting another seat, I agree with the others that I'd try to see if you can get a more upright installation on the truefit.

I guess I'll have to go and try to get it to fit better. Wish me luck!

In addition to installing the seat more upright, make sure YOUR seat is upright. I didn't realize how reclined I rode in the car until I had to put my seat more upright for the sake of the car seat behind me. Just a couple of clicks more upright gives you TONS of sliding room. It felt funny to me at first, but now I get in the car after DH has driven, and have to put my seat up 4 or 5 clicks because he still rides reclined (thanks to his height) and I just can't stand it anymore.

What are the measurements? I'm thinking a TFP will be our next seat in a few months when DD2's seat expires.

That's a good point- thanks!

I have installed a RF True Fit in a 2 door Yaris. For as big of a seat as the TF is, it can fit in smaller back seats well.
