You can always tell them, It is no use waiting. When baby weans they don't get to start nursing. You absolutely refuse to breastfeed an adult.

I am breastfeeding my 3rd. He is now 21 months old. I breastfed my older kids to shortly before they turned 4 years old. A mama on this sight said she has nursed until around 7+ years of age.

My opinion is as long as both mother and child are happy with the situation it is nobodies business when you wean.
