You can always sell it for scrap if you don't want to go through all the trouble with the car's issues.

If you sell it for scrap, cut the catalytic converter off first. You can get money for it if scrapped separately because of the materials used in it, hence the high price to fix it. You could donate it to a college or highschool for a project car as a tax write off, or see if they could fix it. I am so glad my dh is a mechanic If you aee even remotely mechanically inclined, I agree with a PP , do it yourelf....

I had an OLD car that wouldn't pass emissions and needed $4500 in repairs just to run/pass. It was worth $850 and cost me $1200 a few years before. It sat in the garage for two years then we scrapped it to some random CL ad for $650.

Don't offer it to your friend. I agree on to have it check first to get, possible amount of expenses. the post it online. I'm sure mechanically incline persons will get the interest on it.
