Help! Ring sling or wrap??
I've been looking into baby wearing for months and I just can't decide what to buy! I currently just have some sort of pouch thing (like a ring sling but not adjustable?) that I use to hip carry my DD when shopping etc... I want to get something else that has more carry options and is more comfortable though. I LOVE the look of the girasol wraps, but I'm on a limited budget.... Are the wraps worth the money or should I just look for a comfortable ring sling?
Dumb question, I know...

I have a Moby wrap. It is pretty reasonably priced especially when you use a coupon and very comfortable. Good luck!

Re: Help! Ring sling or wrap??
How old is your daughter? Ring slings are great, but a wrap definitely gives you more versatility. I don't know what your budget is, but Colimacon & Cie wraps are supposed to be really good and affordable, or if you can sew you could make a DIY wrap out of linen or osnaburg muslin.

I have a ring sling but am having a hard time using it with my almost 5 week old daughter. She overheats very easily

Yes wraps are worth the money. They are worth the work of learning a new skill. They are comfy and beautiful. DS2 is my lucky kid he has quite the stash of baby carriers (DS1 had only an ergo) and of all the choices he prefers to be wrapped in a woven wrap. Especially if he feels crummy or is overstimulated. It's like being swaddled, he just loves it.

Re: Help! Ring sling or wrap??
Ditto on what milie said.
I would get both. I use my ring sling for quick store / grocery runs, but for when I'm going to carry my baby for longer periods (over a couple of hours), I go to my wrap. I have a Moby for my stretchy wrap and a Vatanai for my woven wrap. Given that summer is coming, I will have to warn you that the Moby gets HOT. Plus, while it says it can carry heavier babies, I would not recommend it past 15 lbs or so. Too much stretch. For a more reasonably priced yet decent wrap, I would look at the FSOT board at thebabywearer.com or the babywearing swap on Facebook. The swap on FB even has a section for wraps less than $100. |

I have both and like pp, i use the ring sling for quick trips and the wrap for longer carries. I got my wrap on Amazon (Wrapsody) for around $70. They are expensive but worth it!
