Re: POLL: Are pre-birth hiccups related to reflux?

Both my kids were violent hiccupers in utero, but only had digestive issues when I ate dairy (they were breastfed). So no, I don't think there's a correlation.

Re: POLL: Are pre-birth hiccups related to reflux?

I've always like the old wive's tale that hiccups are caused by growing

DD had LOTS of hiccups in utero. But spit up.. maybe 6 times in the first year of life? Definitely no reflux.

of course, her tons of hiccups could be related to the cord that was wrapped around her neck.

this baby has lots of hiccups, but last U/S showed no cord wrap.

I don't think there's a relationship between hiccups and reflux.

Re: POLL: Are pre-birth hiccups related to reflux?

My daughter had a lot of hiccups and she did have acid reflux, but my son had hiccups and did not. However, my daughter did have them more... I still don't think there's a correlation.

I would have voted other. DD had hiccups that woke me up in the middle of the night. She also had severe colic, and is gluten and dairy sensitive. With the twins; nothing.

DS: hiccups in utero, acid reflux + colic
DD: not a single hiccup, no reflux

Re: POLL: Are pre-birth hiccups related to reflux?

My youngest was the only one of my three kids to have hiccups. 2 out of three of my kids (Both of the boys)have acid reflux. Now the child with hiccups does have the worst reflux of the 2 that have it. However he was born 3 weeks early because of complications. I understand reflux is common with babies take early even if it is only a few weeks early.

All 7 of my kids had hiccups in utero. Its a normal response to an immature nervous system. None of my kids have had reflux.

I dont think there is a correlation at all.
