Sweaty baby

My DS is a very sweaty baby in general, but in the car seat it is so much worse. I live in Florida so it's usually hot to begin with. I only dress him in a onesie, but are there any other tips for keeping him cool?

Re: Sweaty baby

In the summer I cover our car seat with a towel whenever DS isn't in it to keep it cool. I also try to open the windows to let the hot air out before we get in the car.

I made a car seat cover for the twins, but never got round to using it, but my baby is FAT and sweaty so will definitely use it for her.

A friend of mine swears by some insert you can get but I'm not sure how safe they are for the car.

There are inserts that you can freeze and put in the seat but they're only for when baby is not in the seat. You can't add anything to a car seat that isn't specifically approved by the manufacturer.

Cool the car down/use a towel if you have to leave the seat in the car (assuming its a bucket). But honstly, aside from being annoying for you, a sweaty baby isn't a huge deal. DD was always sweaty in her infant seat but it didn't bother her. You could put a piece of fabric that is good at wicking between the babies skin and the onesie and then one undrneath the babies head? Nothing thick under the onesie of course so that it wouldn't create extra bulk.

Thanks for the input. I've looked at the inserts but I know that you aren't supposed to put anything in the seat. I usually don't leave the seat in the car. I'm more worried about when we walk and use the travel system. But i guess if the car seat isn't in the car an insert would be ok, right?
