Re: see if it resolves on own? or antibiotics? WWYD?

With strep I am generally an antibiotic person as I have a son who was born with a heart valve issue (nothing to do with strep during pregnancy, btw). I just can't bear the thought of further damage no matter how slight the chance.

That being said, I have a friend who shared this just last night: http://www.epmonthly.com/columns/in-...arm-than-good/ Which basically says the Cochrane group estimates a 16-hour reduction in symptoms with antibiotics, but ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or a single dose of corticosteroids is as good or better, with fewer side effects. And Cochrane is the go-to when it comes to accurate, evidence-based information, we use them in the childbirth world all the time.

Still, being pregnant, I would personally do the antibiotics.

thanks all! I am going to err on the side of caution as much as I hate meds!! No need to risk anything... must have a healthy bean in +/- 6 weeks!!

Try three tbsp apple cider vinegar and three tbsp raw honey in a cup of water. Acv kills step and honey is antibacterial.

i would take the antibiotic. I don't mess with strep espcially that close to delivery. I don't want any sort of infection going on.

Re: see if it resolves on own? or antibiotics? WWYD?

I had what I think was strep throat no confirmed by doc
through was very very sore and of course red/white spots on tonsils.
I gargled with apple cider vinegar which took the pain away immediatley then kept doing that several times a day for a couple days and it went away that fast. I would give that a try before antbx.
I had my throat hurt like before with a fever also and they didi the rapid test and the lady said strep and I took the antb but I also had them do a culture and sure enough it wasn't even damn strep!!! of course I had already taken meds by then

I filled them and then decided to give it a couple of days with some home remedies/natural cures and... felt worse... plus my cough got worse... so antibiotics it is. I absolutely HATE taking them, but am hoping they kick it out of me quick!! I'm feeling LOUSY!!! Thanks Mamas!

Yes, crazy scientifically and medically back theories by doctors.
Meningitis is a different strain of Strep, strep B, versus strep and scarlet fever which are strep A. Strep A can't turn into strep B.

I would also assume that if the OPs condition turned to scarlet fever, she would take meds at that point and stop any obscure risk of catching strep B while fighting strep A, so the factually incorrect fear mongering is uneccessary IMO.
