They were absorbent, I didn't mean to imply that they weren't. DD was just that heavy of a pee-er, and the flips were enough more absorbent that they could hold her.

I'd say they are very similar, but right now if I need something I'd go with the thirsties size 2 b/c #1 they are way cheaper than the organic flips now and #2 they are a lot more adjustable and easier to add a doubler to.
FWIW I fold my size 2's the "other way" so it is shorter and fits on my dd better. Since it is the same thickness all the way through it works great.
