Troubleshooting wool

I have 3 wool covers that were awesome when I bought them. The lady I bought them from washed and did everything for me before she sent them to me so they were ready to go when I got them. Now they need to be washed and relanolined. I've tried putting lanolin on them and both times they've leaked at night. Tips please.

Re: Troubleshooting wool

How did you lanolize them? How much lanolin? Did you wash them first?

Re: Troubleshooting wool

What is your wash and lanolizing routine?

Is it possible that you're not using enough lanolin? That whole "pea sized amount" thing was never enough for me, I use a decent sized glob and wash 3 or 4 at a time.

Yes, I washed them first. I washed them with just mild baby soap & used lansinoh lanolin just because that's what I had on hand. I didn't use a pea sized amount just because I was afraid it wouldn't work. I would say I used a "string" maybe 3 inches long? Enough that the cover was actually slightly sticky after it dried. Should I get better wool wash and lanolin? Would that help?

Re: Troubleshooting wool

Are you using the same dipe underneath? The only thing I can think of is that you over lanolized and instead of absorbing some liquid first it just repelled and caused leaking.

I agree with this and also see that as a possibility. It sounds like you're using the same amount of lanolin that I use for about 3 pieces of wool.
