Well, DH and I were talking about this and we realized we don't know which category our city falls into. We've always lived around here, so for the rest of the country/world, we have no idea if they have even heard of it. He suggested that I ask you folks, so that's what I'm doing.

Have you ever heard of Rochester, NY?
Dh's family lives in Fairport; grew up in Naples. I lived in Western New York..so YEP!

I did, but I wouldn't expect most here too, just because his presidency was longer ago. I am in my 40s, so the 80s are memorable to me. But, if you're younger, you might not know that. But, Clinton was a decade later and I figure most here were at least in middle school by 2000 or so and would remember him more.

Polk City
Jewel

(just to name a few in the area). And I've driven through Madrid before.

Re: Have you heard of this city?

Being that I'm in NY, of course. My sister lives there as to my BIL/SIL. I really think Rochester is one of the bigger cities in NY so lots of people have heard of it. Now, had you said any of the smaller actual towns, I bet you'd have a lot different answers. Not as many have probably heard of Greece, Chili, Spencerport, Avon etc, but often those get lumped into "Rochester" when refering to places because lots of people do know Rochester.

Yep. In the TV version of America, I think 95% of the country lives near New York or LA?

OP, do you know Manhattan, KS?

Can you pronounce Nevada, MO? And Missouri also has Versailles.

Maybe not, if they aren't old enough to have been interested in the 92 election.

But I think it was only during the 92 campaign that they made a big deal out of being "a man from Hope."

I'm within worrying distance of the New Madrid (Mad-rid) fault. And just miles from the community of Moscow (Moss-co), KY.

Re: Have you heard of this city?

Yup but it is because my ex-step grandparents lived in Elizabethtown I think and we did a lot of travelling up there when I was younger.

We used to hang out there when I was a teen attending Meadowmount in the summers!
