Cloth pad help with fleece!

I'm making cloth menstrual pads right now and just using normal fleece for backing. How do I tell which side goes to the outside, and which way does the stretch run?

Fleece for backing can go either way. If it has a print on it, sometimes you can tell inner/outer but if it is just plain colored I usually can't tell inside from outside(sometimes if you look at the edge you can see one side thicker than the other but not usually. The stretch of the fleece will be salvage to salvage, so from the uncut edges, and I usually make that go across the pad as opposed to front to back.

If you stretch along the edge, it will roll toward the wrong/inner side.
