Cortisone shot

Just had a cortisone shot and I asked about nursing - the dr said I should wait 2-3 days (to be safe) - does this sound right or too long? or is it okay if I nurse anyway? My baby is 18 months old so at least not a newborn. He is already panicking over me not letting him nurse. The dr also wants me to take motrin or aleve (not sure of spelling.) I am also nursing my 3 year old but I may just wean her since it may be "time" anyway...

What kind of cortisone shot?
Do you have the actual drug name?

I dont think you need to wait. Generally any steriod is fine when nursing.

Ita fine to nurse. Those are injected into the joint facet and little is in your blood stream.

Kenalog is a common one and safe fetus says no adverse affects reported.

Re: Cortisone shot

It is hard to know without the exact drug. If you are worried, call a pharmacy and ask, they often know more than docs about drugs.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, especially with older nurslings.
