My daughter is a little over 7 months old and she has been really naughty lately and is pinching. She'll even laugh when she does it sometimes. My biggest problem is when she does it while she's nursing. It just hurts so bad and I'm sore and sick of it. Lately breastfeeding hasn't been very enjoyable unless she's tired. Her latch has been terrible, she's teething, constipated, refusing to nurse while out & very grumpy. Sorry I just needed to vent I guess.

I'm hoping these teeth pop through and she stops being such a grump soon. She's been spending a lot of time in the pack n play because I've been trying to put her down when she does it. I really want to go back to loving breastfeeding.

Yesterday we took our son to the science museum and the baby behaved terribly. She refused to eat, hit, scratched, pinched and bit me. she didn't have a wet diaper for 6 hours. I ending up pumping in the car, but she refused the bottle. Then when she got home she nursed non stop for over and hour. I took her to the doctor last week, but she couldn't find anything wrong with her other than gas. They've been having me give her miralax for the constipation and it just seems to give her gas. I love my daughter, but this new fussy phase is awful. Do you think it's just mainly teething related? I'm also worried that starting solids is making her drink less milk. I always nurse first, but when it comes time for her next nursing I'm uncomfortably full and she's not interested. How often do you think a seven month old should nurse anyway? Thank you.

Oh my gosh mine does that too and I hate it! she takes a little bit of skin and like pinches and rolls it between her fingers and it hurts so bad especially if she has any sort of fingernails! I have to keep them super short all the time now bc she does that and scratches while she nurses. Like to the point of leaving marks.

If you're dealing with constipation, and she didn't have the problem before she started solids, then solids are part of the pooping problem. Cut back solids, increase nursing and see if that helps the constipation.

As for the pinching, it is a phase. A phase that can take months to break. DD3 is still pinching at 8 months (she started around 6 months). I've found holding her hand while she nurses, tickling her fingers, kissing her palm, etc all help distract from the pinching. Some days are better than others, but it is certainly MUCH better than when she first started and I had little bruises all over my chest. Some moms find a nursing necklace helps. With DD2 I resorted to using a stuffed animal to allow her to pinch and poke as much as she wanted.

My son did this too. Now he holds my boob like a burger. I had bruises all over my boobs. It was crazy. It is another phase in the list of phases....LOL! I used to yelp he pinched so hard.

My one year old outgrew the pinching phase about a month ago. If I wore low tops it looks like I had been attacked. I was all bruises and scratches.

I have no advice, but the pinching will eventually stop. We are in a biting phase now unfortunately.

I really hope she gets out of this phase soon. If she's not pinching and scratching then she's grabbing fingers and biting them. She bit my son the other day and luckily he reacted well. My chest looks like I was attacked by a crazed animal; all scratched and bruised. I guess I'm somewhat relieved that I'm not the only one who's baby is beating them up lol.

Yes - pinch and roll. My now 3 yr old used to do this. He even did it on your elbow up till this year. I used to look like a battered woman. My youngest was not that bad, but I had bruising all over my boobs. It started at 7-ish months and ended at about 10 months. Then he started holding a boob in one hand and punching/kneading it on the other side with the other.

Yay! I'm not alone, lol. I found that a nursing necklace helped, as well as holding her hand. My DD is the same age and I have a hard time nursing in public too. It helps to go in the car sometimes, where it's nice and quiet.

Yep same here. My 5 month old guy punches and pinches. I hold his hand or wear a nursing necklace.
