A tetnus shot after the fact does nothing. You would need the tetnus immunoglobulin shot. If it was rusty, there is no tetnus. Rust means oxygen and tetnus can't survive with oxygen.

You should be able to call either the dr or the hospital and ask. I had the Tdap right after my daughter was born in 2012. They did it while my epidural was still in effect. A couple days later my leg felt like I was punch and I couldn't remember why, lol.

I had a child in 08 and a child in 09. After one, I was offered TdAp or however it's spelled for adults. After the other I was offered whooping cough. If it was a vaccine, it was likely one of those. I can't remember which was offered which year, though. lol

ETA never mind, those are the same thing. I have severe mom brain. Ha!

Re: what shot did they likely give me in the hospital?

Thanks everyone! I called the hospital and since I'm out of state they would have to email me a consent form (don't remember what they called it) and I'd have to sign it and get it back to them. I don't have a scanner or fax machine. I called my old OB's office and am waiting for a call back. I'm hoping they have the information and that I can get the info easily
