mattress protector

After doing research on chemicals in mattresses, and desperately needing a new mattress (back problems), I am desperate to have a healthy mattress!

Even with a prescription for a chemical free mattress, we couldnt afford one and went with an Ikea mattress because they use less fire retardant chemicals. I justified this by saying we would get a nice mattress protector for it.

Any recommendations?

It must be an encasement protector that will keep out chemical fumes.
Also our mattress is not very deep (I think its like a futon mattress kind of?) so nothing for deep mattresses but I could make it work if needed.

My Mood:

I have a couple crib mattress protectors from them. Would love for all the mattresses in our house but I need to save up for that.

You may want to look online about removing the fire retardant layer - I seem to remember seeing somewhere that someone unzipped an ikea mattress and took out the chemical layer, then zipped it back up.
