I heard you need to add lemon juice to the stain. Not so??

I just did this today. I had a diaper with lots of EBF staining and numerous washed did nothing to get the stain out. I set it outside in the sun for about 6 hours and the inside if the diaper looks brand new. I was shocked!!

might be a silly question, but is staining just an esthetic thing or does it affect the absorption of the diaper at all?

Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.

Tips:

The wetter you get the stained fabric before sunning, the better.

Stains will come out faster if they're exposed to direct sunlight during the hottest time of day. Stains come out from sunning indoors, too, it just takes longer in my experience.

Adding lemon juice to the stained area helps a lot. You should wash the diapers afterwards, though.

Here are some videos:

In my experience sunning stains is very effective for biological stains: vomit, poop, spit-up, etc. It hasn't been quite as effective for marker stains, red juice stains, etc. Has anyone else experienced this or am I imagining things? hehe

I think this is one of the most suprising aspects of cloth diapering! I love the sunshine in the summer .

This was a great stickie, thanks! I have been sunning my diapers for years, but apparently cluelessly as I still learned a thing or two for this. Had no idea that lemon juice could be a booster, nor that sunning indoors on a cloudy day could still help. I NEED that tip here in Washington state!!
