need a custom doll

I feel like this shouldn't be too complicated, but it's been impossible to find. I've posted a similar thread a couple times before, once I never got responses, and once everything was over $100. I just need simple sturdy baby dolls for my sons. A sculpted instead of painted face would be great, but I'm not set on that if it means super expensive. The main thing is for it to be pretty gender neutral (babyish) and have sturdier joints. most of them have tiny skinny legs, or sculpted legs attached by a couple of threads. I would like them just to have a night gown and a diaper. The gown will make it simple for the boys to change diapers. I sew, but I just don't have time to figure this out all on my own. I have gone through a hundred pages on Etsy, and just can't find anything.

Re: need a custom doll

it's not unusual for handmade dolls to cost well over $100. a lot of time goes into making them, so they cost more than one you'd buy that is factory made.

Have you looked into these dolls? they don't come in a gown, but I'm sure you could easily find a WAHM willing to make you a couple

or you could buy a kit from Weir & make your own.

Re: need a custom doll

My little one got one from here for Christmas. She is cute and pretty well made.mdoesnt get as much playtime as her bamboletta but I think that's just my dds preference and not the dolls fault. http://www.etsy.com/shop/puppythreads

Re: need a custom doll

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. It is funny that this thread got picked up this morning, because we ordered one yesterday afternoon. I searched again a few days ago with my son in my lap to see what he liked, and it seems like there were dozens more options than when I had looked before. Still some of these didn't come up, and I just favorited a few for when DS2's birthday comes around in the fall. We ended up getting this one, and Efrim is so happy. I don't know how she did it so fast, but he's already finished! Can't wait until he gets here. I will have to make a gown, but at least I am not learning doll making from scratch in this already busy summer.
