Making a wrap

I got some 65% cotton/ linen 35% on sale and I want to make a wrap for me to wear dd in, she is 21 months.

Its about 5.5 yards and 50" wide right now. I don't have a serger. It's printed on one side and not the other, it was cheap and I didn't care.

Can anyone tell me what to do? I obviously don't want it to fray, and would like it to be functional and pretty. Should I start by giving it a good wash?

Re: Making a wrap

First wash and dry the fabric so it'll shrink up before you do any cutting. Then try wrapping with it and see how you like the length. Once you figure out how long you want it, you'll cut it to your selected length + 2 inches, and you'll probably want to cut the width down to 32 inches as well. Then you'll do a 1/2 inch rolled hem all the way around, and you're done!
Here's a blog with a tutorial:

Enjoy!

Well boo. I got the whole thing cut out and then I went and cut a dang diagonal end. Sewed the whole thing up and voila! It's too short lol. Oops!!

Awww, that's too bad. I'm sure you can still use it though, you'll just need to try some different carries. This chart might help: http://community.babycenter.com/post...ngth_and_links
