Actually I used proraps too and loved them. I had preemie and nb and both fit my babies great right away. I also like the bummies super brites and those fit them well too, definitely smaller than the Thirsties xs.

I'd say about $200 if you don't want to be stuck with prefolds/flats $100 if you do't mind prefolds.

[QUOTE=abh5e8;16586487]so do you think the GMD orange edge prefolds will be too big for a NB?

No, I think the orange edge will be just right for a 7-8lb baby. But I did get 15 yellow Edge PF's for the next size up (10lbs+) so in case I didn't want to exclusively use flats I wouldn't have to.

Re: How much $$ for a NB stash?

I agree on the NB resale value. I was able to sell my GMD prefolds for close to what I paid.

Re: How much $$ for a NB stash?

Buying in bulk (i.e. getting PUL fabric by the bolt (but still paying a premium for cute prints), and birdseye cotton by the bolt, and cotton flannel by the bolt) I've found it costs slightly under $3 per diaper to make the newborn AIO's using the "cloth revolution" free pattern.

Making the larger sizes requires more fabric and costs closer $3.50 or $4.00. It is possible that people who actually sell them and are making HUGE quantities can get even cheaper prices on the fabric - but as someone making a stash for myself, that was the best I could do on price.

The Thirsties Duos have worked great on my nb. We started cloth when he weight about 8lbs. We've never had a leak with these covers.

Re: How much $$ for a NB stash?

Lol... I guess it depends what reasonable means to you...
Ive spent
4 FSOT (incl. Nb rumparoo, sm prorap, thirsties sz1) NB/small covers .... $15
2 made by me upcycled wool wraps............................................. ................. $ 10 (materials etc)
Pins.............................................. .................................................. ..................$ 2
Snappi .................................................. .................................................. .........$ 4
26 flats (ranging from approx 27x27-28x29in).......................................... ...$ 30
Total...................... $61 give or take

Add
5 Econobum, 6 Flip, and one Imagine OS cover all from FSOT and all EUC... about $70
15 more (to add to the 8 left over from ds) large flats for down the road and we will be completely ready for birth to potty...

Ds1 birth to potty diapering cost was approx $200...

Re: How much $$ for a NB stash?

Oh, forgot to add.... The great thing about a summer baby is we will go coverless during the day at home sometimes so i wont need as many covers... If nb was born during cooler weather id add about 2-4 more covers or some wool longies (upcycled of course)... Although for at home there prob wont be any thing wrong with using a OS cover even if it is giant so long as the diaper is fastened on baby
