I took it every other day. It does work pretty quickly.

Re: heartburn help!!!

Ityped a long message then my ipad deleted it when I went to get you a link. Try this(it helped me some):
http://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/pr...tburn-tea.html

By ab the time I was were you are with baby 3, this is what I took:
Prilosec 20mg in the am(after 1st trimester)
Zantac 150mg at night
Mylanta/Maalox, 3-4tsp before bed

I struggle with GERD and EoE, which cause heartburn and reflux even when not pregnant. When I am, it is a beast! Hope you can find what works for you. In my opinion, it's more unsafe for mama to have constant stomache acid in her esophagus, than for baby to be exposed to some meds that are considered relatively harmless. Not nearly as detailed as the last message, if you have ?'s message me.

Re: heartburn help!!!

PPI's always say to use no more than 14 days. It can inhibit your body from absorbing calcium properly, but that is long-term. I have been on these since I was about 14. I try and take breaks sometimes to give my body a chance to heal, but I can't go around in constant pain. I am under the care of a Gastro doc when not pregnat and he keeps me on them, so you are fine for a couple months. Just find the one that works for you. For me, it's prilosec.

tea- i drink chamomile and nettle I have rrl but haven't drank any I will try to add that in. I stay away from any mints though as that agrivates my hb. this hb is weird though as my others ones were more like fumes and acid in my chest(and coming up) this is just a constant pain(not burning)at my heart.

Re: heartburn help!!!

Sounds like it is staying under your diaphragm and burning you that way -- I get that sometimes, too, and the pain can be either small in nature, or I can feel like I have been kicked in the sternum by a horse!

I take the delayed-release, one daily, and in that case, I need to take nothing else in a 24-hour period -- they often cost more but it is worth it. IMO, Zantac and Tagamet do nothing for me, they last about 6 hours and that's it. I hate Tums and the way they leave my mouth tasting metallic-y. IME, if I have that chest pain which isn't refluxing up, no antacids seem to help that -- I have to take a PPI and stick with it until the erosions heal. Talk to your care provider, and if he/she can't recommend a PPI for your comfort during pregnancy, get a second opinion. There are medications you can take while pregnant, you shouldn't have to suffer and possibly deal with erosions. Don't let that "May take 1-4 days for full effect" delay you trying it.

Also, fwiw, drinking tea of any kind just added to my reflux as more fluid just made things come up higher.

Re: heartburn help!!!

yeah i took the zantac for 3 days. it did not go away one minute with it. guess i will try the previcid or prilosec. it is not a matter of eating smaller meals as I can wake up in the morning having not eaten since 6 the night before, drink a cup of tea and eat a banana and heartburn is set in that fast, immediately and will stay until sometime in the middle of the night. thanks for the help ladies
