Re: Dirty public restrooms

I do keep a potty in the car but I don't worry about them. I just use them and always wash mine and DS's hands. Humans have more bacteria cells in/on their body than actual human cells so I don't really stress about germs. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0603085914.htm
Just to gross you out .

Re: Dirty public restrooms

I line the potty well, hold them while they hold onto me and don't let them touch anything.

Re: Dirty public restrooms

My son is only 6 months old but i'm already dreading the day he'll need to use a public potty!!! I'm so OCD about it i'm not sure how i'm going to survive.

I'm consideringone of these:

For my 3.6 year old he stands to pee or we use one of those covers if he has to sit. For my 23 month old I have a poteet and love it! I keep it in the back if the SUV and take him to the car. He is so tiny I can't imagine him on a big public toilet!

Re: Dirty public restrooms

I have a fold up potty seat I got at Walmart. It fits in my purse and has a plastic pouch it goes in. Love it, my son was scared of using the big potty before I bought it.

We just use them. They touch everything, crawl on the floor, etc. So far so good, haven't lost one to public bathroom plague yet We usually avoid the sinks though (just more germy stuff to touch) and then I wipe their hands with wipes once we're out of the bathroom.

Re: Dirty public restrooms

I swear I'm not being snarky. This is a legit question that my brain conjured up.

If you use a little potty in your car, what do you do with "remains"? Do you just leave it in your car until you get home? Do you really have urine sloshing around your trunk?

And what is your plan when your kiddo outgrows the portable potty? If you have a dislike of public bathrooms, what will you do when your kid is too big for the potty, but has to go RIGHT NOW?

Re: Dirty public restrooms

I agree that public restrooms are GROSS and most definitely need protection - even when you do wash your hands!!! There is a portable potty cover you can buy - it was very useful, make sure to travel with Clorox wipes to wipe it off or wash if you prefer, but they make your life a whole lot easier!!!
