Horizons math first grade...do I need the Teacher's Guide?

I used Horizons for kindergarten and I want to use it for first grade also. I didn't crack the Teacher's Guide once this year...is the first grade one worth buying?

The teachers guide does have extra activities to do that aren't in the book (math fact practice, etc)

We are using this right now and I would say the Teacher Guide is good to have. It goes into depth of how to teach some of the stuff and gives you other ideas of activities to do that go along with the workbooks or in addition to the workbooks.

I haven't actually taught it yet, but after reading through the guide I think it is very nice to have. It gives lots of teaching ideas and there are extra practice pages in the back that you can copy for your LO. It has an easy layout too, not tons of extra reading for you each day before the lesson.

We just finished it and we did not use the teachers guide . Dd did perfectly fine and is more than ready to move on to the second grade books.

Ok, thanks! This was our experience with the kindergarten set, too.

Re: Horizons math first grade...do I need the Teacher's Guide?

I bought the manual the first year I used Horizons math (1st grade). I never used it, so I sold it. I haven't bought a manual since, and we're up to grade 4. I'm still very happy with this curriculum!
