TY Liz. Sorry that was so big. I just haven't updated in some time.

I think the white ones are leghorns. The one I was stumped on is a welsummer. Also the 5 toe was a sultan. Possibly a cpl glw's and silver spangled hamburg.

What kind of water bottle? I'm using the waterer from the feed store (I think it is one gallon, it flips over to fill) and they dump it out/mess it up so I have to fill it at least twice a day. Dang ducks are so messy. Is there a better way?

So debating on the fate of Big G, aka Ginger. Since she's looking more and more he every day - how long do I have now? DH has this crazy idea that maybe he'll be quiet enough to keep, but everyone seems to say that there is no such thing as a quiet rooster. No crowing here yet. I think they are about 9-10 weeks now? How long until we know beyond a shadow of a doubt? And how easy to rehome, or should we just be making an appointment with the butcher?

Re: ***April/May Chicken Moma Chat Thread** Join in!

So I just got my husband because I checked on my brooding hen with the chicks due Mon-Tue and there were feathers thrown about in the hen house and she was missing a patch of feathers on her back. I'm assuming it may be this other hen that may of layed eggs in her spot. My husband and I moved the hen and the eggs to their own safe place (a big cat carrier and I gave her a dish with food and a tiny bit of water). Sure enough I go back down there and this other hen is trying to peck her through the door, so I shooed her back into the coop so mama hen can have some peace. Once the chicks hatch I'm guessing whatever doesn't hatch I can move back into the hen house for the other hen? I'm also going to move mama hen and babies to an even bigger, secluded place from the flock until they get bigger in fear of my mean roo. So, my fellow chicken ladies, does this sound like a good plan? Any suggestions? Thank you for the help so far!

I use a gerbil nipple waterer, I've seen where you can buy the nipples and screw them into anything though

Bad pic bc of the red heat light and all, but I love finding them all sleeping in a pile! and with their beaks on the floor. Lol. They always huddle in the corner too. When will they start sleeping on a roost?

Cute puppy!
