ideas for a crayon party?

This is for my (going on) 4-year-old twins and their (going on) 2-year-old brother.

Anyone want to share cool / cheap / fun ideas with me?

Here's what I have so far:

Each guest colors a picture for the kiddos and we put it together into a notebook later for them to look through (my kids LOVE hand-made books)

The crayon-shaped mugs from Oriental as favors / decor

I'm thinking about buying some inflatable crayons to take the kids' picture with and make into invitations

Crayon-themed cake (I am making this with my cake-making-friend's help, LOL - I don't even know what fondant IS!)

Maybe everyone color on a white tablecloth (if I can find one cheap)?

Any other ideas?

There actually won't be any other children at this party - well, some older kids, but no little ones their own age; it's sort-of an extended family party, so we don't really do favors at all (which is why I thought pics of the kids would be nice).

Also, latex allergies, so I can have only Mylar balloons . . . which my kids LOOOOVE so I will probably go get . . .

Any other fun ideas?

Re: ideas for a crayon party?

Make your own crayons in whatever shape mold you can find. simply melt the old broken crayons in a babyfood jar placed in about an inch of water in a saucepan, melt, pour into candy mold, ice cube trays or even muffin tins. I prefer to put the same colors into one mold to make crayons that are one color, or layered in colors rather than just dumping all colors together and getting some weird color black back. We have also just put crayons into a muffin tin in the oven at 250 for a few minutes.

Re: ideas for a crayon party?

Shred broken crayons with a cheese grater and let the kids lightly sprinkle their color choices on the top of a letter-size sheet of waxed paper. Top with another sheet of waxed paper and press with a warm iron over a sheet or towel you don't care about. And you have... stained glass! frame with two sheets of any color construction paper with pretty cutouts to expose the "glass" but don't hang directly in the window! LOL!
