Just thought I would update you guys. I ended up breastfeeding and was super comfortable and graceful. I didn't drop the baby or bump her in the table at all! Hahaha. I was facing a window but used my cover since my more modest family members were there. The waiter even took my drink order without batting an eye. Super big thumbs up for NIP!

Re: Breast or bottle in a restaurant?

I nurse everywhere but do what you feel comfortable with. Maybe practice at home a few times pretending like you're in public and you will be more confident about your skills.

Re: Breast or bottle in a restaurant?

Honestly, it is whatever you like, you can do no wrong. I just wish more mamas would breastfeed in public more often (and perhaps without a cover) so that is becomes the social norm. I include myself in this. I am not confident enough to breastfeed without a cover in public, or I will feed LO in the car, but I hope to some day not question it and just feed my baby wherever.

Red face Re: Breast or bottle in a restaurant?

Whatever you're comfortable with! I, too am too lazy to do a bottle, so much easier to bf! I do use a cover if I'm really out in the open, though, just my comfort level!

Re: Breast or bottle in a restaurant?

I'm perfectly comfortable nursing in a restaurant or in front of strangers. Funny thing is that I use a cover when I'm around my boyfriend's family. I guess part of it is that I don't want them to have any negative thoughts about me or think I'm being rude or something. Dumb, but that's how it is.

I'm in your boat. I nurse so freely that trying to use a cover is more trouble than "dirty looks". I have gotten none (that I've noticed) and I nurse while shopping at target if need be. Lol. every once in a while, especially since she was born in winter and made it much easier to do so, I'd toss a scarf over her latched mouth, but that's about the extent of my covering her. I've nursed with the ergo, a ring sling, and a mei tai. On the go doesn't mean she's not hungry. She gets fed when she's hungry......as we all hope to be. This has been going strong since dd2 got home from the NICU and she's now 6 months old. I will continue to nurse as she needs, where ever that may be. I've got pretty nice boobs so I'm not very shy about it.
