Looking for recs on birth tub
Going to be having a home birth and for sure want a water birth. Does anyone have any recs on a birthing tub? My last one we had a roman garden tub, but don't have that in our current house, so will be buying or renting something suitable.
Thanks in advance! Advertisement

Re: Looking for recs on birth tub
I second this. I love them and have used them twice (old type and new). Also as a plus you can use it as a pool for the kids afterwards and they are much cheaper than the "actual" birth pools.

Does the kiddie pool stay warm, though? I live where it's cold and am due for a Winter baby.

Re: Looking for recs on birth tub
I used a rented La Bassine. Very nice and my water stayed warm. My midwife insisted that was the best tub and I was happy with it.

Re: Looking for recs on birth tub
With DD2 I was due February 10 in a cold winter climate and there was no problem. You don't want it super warm/hot. We did up the heat in the house too though for comfort during and for our newborn baby after. If your hot water heater runs out of hot or the pool cools off you can always use heated on the stove top pots of water (we did this after the birth cause we stayed in for awhile). Don't know how many birth pools actually regulate temperature anyways....

Re: Looking for recs on birth tub
When I look on amazon the intex kiddie pool is only 13" deep. Are ya'll really giving birth in a 13" deep pool? Or am I not finding the right one? The la' Bassine was up to my armpits when I sat flat on the bottom. I found having the water fully covering my belly was very nice.
