I was not a good pumper, but never had problems with feeding directly off the breast. I think my boobs started making milk on more of an 'on demand' basis--and the pump was not recognized as someone worth making milk for!

Anyway--to increase my pumping output the hospital LC suggested that I keep pumping at least 5 more minutes after the last letdown--to signal to the boob that it needs to make more.

But honestly--at 8 months I'd probably just add in some formula if needed and nurse more at home.
