So confused.

Ok here is my story. I was two weeks late and my period alwsys comes on time I started taking tests and they started out negative well I only waited 2 mins by the time I got back to it it was a clear positve. So I took more tests and they all came back positve a little later. I went to the doctor and she did a blood test plus a bunch of other tests and everything came back normal. Well peripd still a no show. So a week after a negative blood test I took some more urine tests and they came up right away but they are very faint. I have a lot of symptoms what does this mean? I will post pictures as soon as I figure out how to

Sometimes, if your doctor ordered a qualitative instead of quantitive it would be too early. If the levels aren't high enough on a qualitative test, it will be negative. You should ask for a qaunt beta hcg test.

Yes. I had a blood draw be negative when really I was. I believe levels lower than 25 are 'negative'

At the time of the draw you could have been very very very early.

Re: So confused.

Ditto. There are 2 kinds of blood tests, one that is like the urine tests that just comes back with positive or negative and it has to hit a certain amount of HCG before it turns positive (so you could have had a low level that didn't hit their positive level yet). It's called the qualitative (yes/no) blood test. The other kind measures exactly how much HCG there is and is called the quantitative (shows the quantity = count). Some clinics will still use a cut off that if it's under like 10 they still call it negative even though the only way you can have HCG in your blood is with pregnancy or a very very limited selection of meds.

My bet is that the first blood draw was the positive/negative one. and it was just too early to show up yet.
