Loving the suggestions, everyone. :-) I find out if we're having a boy or a girl Tuesday and will be starting to buy diapers after that so keep the suggestions coming if you have any more!

Re: big newborns

I think GMD yellow workhorse without snaps would work. Just fold down the front to make them smaller and use a snappi. You can do the same with their yellow prefolds. I also like the thirsties duo 1 cover.

I would then move on to the brown workhorse and prefolds and fold down the rise. They fit will under thirsties duo 2 cover. That would cover 4 sizes in two sized diapers.

Re: big newborns

I used imagine small (not nb) bamboo cotton prefolds with assunta tiny covers, worked well from birth til almost 2 months.

My DD was 9lb 9oz I used NB nikky poly/cotton covers over some staydry inserts i made. (cotton terry and micro fleece from joanns) The nb nikky fit for 2 weeks then we went to the small. The newer, Velcro alva pockets fit great. I loved the softness and the great fit. I never wanted to buy sized covers, but they really do fit better.

Re: big newborns

i am interested in this as well. My boys were 9 1/2 and 10 1/2 lbs but born a decade ago. with ds1, I honestly don't remember much about his early days in regards to diapering. i know we got gifted a pack of sposies that we used the first few days and then at three weeks i started ecing him...which he much preferred so he wasn't diapered much

I do remember that all velcro other than imse vimse scratched up his tummy

with ds 2 i liked kissaluv sz0's for fit though he peed through them in three seconds and I had a perfect little nanipoo sherpa newborn fitted. that was tiny but still fit him for a few weeks. I remember that our problem was him peeing through prefolds and the kissaluvs...and i think we ended up switching to bigger diapers sooner because of it.

I do have some ks0 this time, lots of wool covers, a couple different prefitteds. I'd like a couple for fitteds and ai2's if we can swing it. otherwise we will be using infant prefolds and covers. I don't mind bulk either on a newborn.

Re: big newborns

Thirsties size 1 will work, GMD yellow prefolds with thirsties xsmall covers....and honestly, you can probably almost jump into OS. My chunkers all fit into OS within just a couple of weeks. 8-10, 9-5, and 9-14. If I had another baby, I would not buy newborn anything. Just OS and wing it till they fit.

Re: big newborns

If you liked FuzziBunz other than the leg gaps on the smalls, how about their one size diapers? They get pretty small with the adjustable elastics so they might be good on a big newbie.
