Re: Standard size newborn and infant prefolds?

I missed that you were curious about standard size vrs fit size. I have only used the better fit size, but if you are snappi-ing them on (or boingo or pin) then the standard should be fine. If you are tri-folding than you probably should get the "better fit" sizing.

Re: Standard size newborn and infant prefolds?

I have standard and better fit in infant and the next size up. Right now I use both sizes for infant and there's not a huge difference except I just fold the rise down a tad more for standard. Still really trim and I like having that extra up front for my boy.
I'm actually going to have to start using my boingos to fasten more on the sides (think side-snapping diaper) as the width is starting to be close to be unable to snappi....but he's way too small to move up to the next size.

My newborn covers:
*tiny cover from assunta (snap): fits very well under cord stump and fits over prefolds/flats nicely. not wide enough in the crotch to fit over newborn fitteds
*newborn rumparooz (snap): my favorite hands down. wide enough to fit over fitteds and not too poofy for prefolds/flats. fits very well under cord.
*thirsties xsmall (aplix): I only use this overnight or over really bulky diapers. it's huge on my 8ishlb guy and it irritates the cord stump.
*thirsties size 1 (aplix): ehhh....okay. great fit except it irritates the cord stump as well.
*bummis super snap newborn (snap): awesome cover and probably a close 2nd to the rumparooz. probably won't fit too awesome over a fitted.
*newborn dappi pull-on: I love this cover! great fit no matter what diaper you are using...although PITA when DH doesn't properly snappi a prefold and there's a big poo lol. I got this as a just in case cover but I really love it.

I should add that my son was 6 lbs 15 oz at birth and dropped down to 6 lbs by day 5. If you have 8+ lbs babies then the thirsties size one might fit from the get go.

Re: Standard size newborn and infant prefolds?

My baby was born as my biggest baby yet, 9 lbs 3 oz yet she still fit into newborn proraps and preemie pfs for the first couple of weeks. Thirsties duo size 1 didn't fit until about 2 weeks or so as they irritated her cord. I loved my proraps with the umbillical cut out. They fit so perfectly. She just had/has a short rise I guess. Even though she was born at 9 lbs OS covers and pockets didn't fit her in the legs at all.

Anyway, I used preemie pfs and gerber/child of mine flats for the first few weeks and then moved on to infant pfs and thirsties duo size 1. I still use my preemie pfs for doublers so Im really glad I got them.
