My Mood:
Baby Language

Someone in another forum has made me aware of this. Priscilla Dunstan has figured out the universal "baby" language. She has identified 5 sounds that all babies make from 0 - 12 weeks (longer if they are responded to).

I thought this was very interesting, especially since I'm going to be a new mom! I have heard a lot that babies have different cries and that you eventually figure it nice would it be if it was universal. I think it makes a lot of sense since all babies have the same reflexes and if you are sucking and make a noise it would sound the same.

I figure it certainly can't hurt and anything to help understand what a new baby needs. I've certainly heard babies make these sounds before..

Neh - I'm hungry
Eh - Burp me please
Heh - I'm uncomfortable (something's too tight, my diaper's wet, I'm hot)
Owh - I'm so tired, help me sleep
Eairh - Lower gas pains

Here's her on Oprah:
