Starting Up Milk Again...

How do you start up your milk again? I was nursing 30-50% along with formula feeding, and we were ALMOST getting to where I thought I was producing enough for both, and then we all got thrush so I stopped. I planned to BF again after it was gone, but they STILL have it a week and a half later. It's almost gone, but not totally. My nipples are not painful, though, so I want to see if I can get my milk back.

When I pump, I get about 1-2cc's, so basically just enough to fill the bottom rim of the bottle. I am hoping to put them to breast every time they wake up tonight, and then offer them the bottle after they have nursed a little. And then tomorrow morning, pump every 30 minutes for just a couple minutes each time, just to get everything moving again. And I'm going to start watching my calories and water intake, as I haven't been eating or drinking much because I'm so busy.

Any ways to really boost it up fast?

UPDATE - Still getting about 1-3cc's total. I need to set an alarm on my phone to remind me to pump. I get so busy I forget! But happy I'm getting a tad more each time. Hoping for some good pumping sessions today, and then hopefully I will see an increase tomorrow! LOVING my PISA!!

If you can, purchase a lactaid or SNS. It will allow you to feed your babies their supplements at the breast, so you'll get stimulation with every feed AND will cut your feeding time down since you won't have to also bottle feed after.

I had my first let down feeling this morning after nursing last night twice and then once this morning. And he had some milk dripping down his chin, so hoping he at least got a little! Planning on nursing all day, and then bottle feeding afterwards. I plan on pumping before bed each night to see how much I'm getting, and will exclusively nurse once I'm pumping 3 oz. per breast so I know they can get enough.

Yes keep nursing. Remember babies are more efficient so they will get more than the pump will. Get skin to skin. Lie in bed all day/s with them. Take a bath and have skin to skin. Those things will help.

Essential oils worked for me! A little too much i was engorged for a few days after using fennel and basil essential oils just one application.

Nurse as often as possible. When you pump do a power pump. Pump for 5 minutes rest for 1 minute pump 5 rest 1 pump 5. This tells your body 3 times to make more milk. It takes a few days to a week Tobit you will see a difference. Good luck.

I have tried starting up nursing again over and over, but my super messy house and trying to juggle all 4 kids makes me reach for a bottle to feed them without me even thinking about it. Last night I nursed both before bed, and today I will be nursing before each feeding to see if I can stimulate some milk production to come back. I'm also hoping to do a power pumping session later tonight, but I think we have guests coming over, so I have to wait and see.

We are moving in 5 weeks to a bigger rental home, where there will be less stress, and I will keep my house minimalized, so I'm excited. Hoping to start my milk up asap, though, as I don't want it to totally disappear. It's just super hard trying to find the time. Yesterday all I had to eat was a granola, so need to take time to take care of myself, too.
