I had an incisional biopsy three weeks ago. Today a little bit of my incision came open and I am periodically leaking milk from it, mostly while lo is nursing. My surgeon seems unconcerned and said to leave it be, it will heal eventually, likely after I stop breastfeeding. my dd is only 5 months, so it is going to be a long while before we stop. Is there anything that might help it heal sooner? I am very nervous about having an open wound for an extended period of time but I do not want to stop breastfeeding.

Re: milk fistula

I am not really sure but I would get a second opinion if I was you.

My Mood:
Oh my! I don't know that I would have done a biopsy while breastfeeding but I most certainly would not be comfortable with am open wound. I think you should get a second opinion.

Family history and two doctors recommending the biopsy scared me into it, I wish I had done more research first. I let fear get the best of me. I am thinking I need to start looking for a doctor for a second opinion, sigh.
