Bed question

I need to get a bed for my two older boys who will be sharing a room with ds3 (crib). Both ds1 & ds2 want a Kura bed but they both want to sleep at the top of it. I originally thought about doing a Kura with ds2 on the bottom but wasn't sure if it's rated as a bunk bed. Ideally I'd love a bunk bed/trundle but it's like $700. I have a crazy fear of the one underneath being squashed.

Our two girls are on a full size mattress on the floor.
No suggestions, just that our kiddos bed share also. They sleep so much better that way. If girl #3 ends up wanting to sleep with them around 2-3, we plan to upgrade to a King mattress & box spring set for them.

My boys have a Ikea bunk bed. Not the Kura, but the cheapest actual bunk. They're 6&3 now. About once a week, I find DS2 sleeping on the top bunk with his brother. I used to fight it and try really hard to keep him from doing it, but it's just the way it is. He likes snuggling with his brother. He usually waits until DS1 falls asleep before crawling up there.

I would us Kura with a mattress under - it is designed to be used either way. Craigslist often has bunk beds for cheap

Re: Bed question

We had a double loft with a bunk underneath one of them when we had 3 sharing. We had a woman (yes a woman) that makes them here locally and only cost us about $450. It was the most solid bed we ever owned. I liked having the space underneath the other loft for their little kitchen and other toys

We have the Kura for our 3yo and will be getting a mattress for our 1yo to sleep on the bottom in the spring.

Exclamation Re: Bed question

Will the room fit 2 kura in an L-shape against each other? I've seen a bed like that on Craig's list that was built together and not just shoved up against one another. Depending on the size of the room and location of baby's crib.

Re: Bed question

We have two set of L-shaped bunks purchased off of Craigslist for two of our boys and two of our girls. They almost always share the bottom, though. But I expect that will change as they grow older.
