My daughter was diagnosed with Tourette's this week. I would love to hear from other Moms of children with Tourette Syndrome. She is 7 and I want her to feel happy and comfortable with herself. I feel like we should talk about it openly with friends so that it can be normalized. My husband wants to not put any spotlight on her and just not tell anyone we don't have to.

My Mood:
I have two friends with girls that have/had Tourette's. I think they both chose to be open about it with teachers certainly as otherwise her twitches could be seen as misbehaving. As for other people... I think they were open but didn't make a big deal about it. I mean it's not like you would walk into a room "hi my name is ___ and my daughter has Tourette's" but it isn't something to be ashamed of either and it might be good for her to have language to explain it to other kids as they will likely notice.
