Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.

First time CD mom, and I just tried the lemon juice/sunning "bleach" combo on some used prefolds. Amazing. I wasn't enough of a skeptic to take before and after photos, and now, I wish I had!!!!! It worked like a charm. There are a handful that were darker stained that have lightened. I'm about to go rewet them and keep them out for the last 3 hours of today's sunlight. I have no worries about doing it again tomorrow because IT WILL WORK!!! Loved all the ideas and information on this sticky. Thank you.

Sunning it Texas folks!!! Who knew you wouldn't need a bikini!

I've line dried all my diapers since baby was born and I've never had a stain. Love the sun! And that fresh air smell!

Random question. I know everyone says lemon juice to sun, but could you use lime juice and have the same effect. Hmm sounds like I might perform an experiment soon.

My apartment complex has a rule against hanging laundry on our porches. I tried putting out a drying rack but got a notice the same day that it was against the rules.
Any ideas for diaper stains when you don't have the ability to hang laundry outside?

Can you hang them in your windows? Make little inside laundry lines from the inside and allow them to sun that way?

Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.

Just a little FYI- I know this is mostly about sunning diaper stains out, but my little girl recently had a bloody nose in the night and bled all over her white and light blue quilt. By the time I worked up the courage to deal with it, it had been a couple weeks and the stains were dried in. I poured hydrogen peroxide on it and scrubbed it with baking soda and a toothbrush. After two cycles through the washing machine, it was still pretty bad. I hung it out on the line today, and after several hours of sunshine, the worst of the stains are almost unnoticeable! I'm just going to sun on the other side next time I wash it and anticipate a stain free quilt. Just good info. Dried on blood is a stinker to get off and I'm glad to know sunning works on it, too.

I try my best to scrub the poop off the diapers soon after my son poops. I run it under cold water and use a brush with a handle. It helps keeps the stains to a minimum.
