Re: what's your favorite combination seat?

I would second the suggestion for the Recaro ProSport. We have had ours for 2 years and they still look like new. Great quality and super comfortable. And with the design, they should last us until we're ready to quit booster seats altogether!

Definitely do not get the alpha omega elite "3 in 1" seat, it makes a terrible very unsafe booster due to where it places the seat belt on the child.
Thanks for these tips! Ive been looking at combo seats and noticed that the cheaper models have very little headroom/room to grow and less harness slots for buckles. Im still hesitant about the price tags on Recaro or Britax though. We currently have an expiring Graco Nautilus, which I like, but the thing is so darn heavy!!!

Re: what's your favorite combination seat?

If the weight is an issue, the Pro/Performance Sport won't win any points with you. It's a beast, too. Really, most of the Combo seats are. Bigger kid= bigger seat generally. The Defender is lighter.

If you like the Nautilus, and the price tag on the others has you balking, then get another Nautilus. I really really like that seat. I ended up with the ProSport in a trade with another tech, or I probably wouldn't have one either due to the price tag. My DD rides in a Nauti in my mom's car, and it's really a great seat. I like it better as a booster than the PS, too, just because the PS lap belt path is kind of hard for a kid to use.

I love our frontier 85. The price didn't hurt because I scored it on nobetterdeal way back when for $113 shipped. I don't think I would care for the wear on the seatbelt from clicktight and wouldn't use it in my car. It would however be a HUGE bonus if I needed to move the seat frequently.

For a budget friendly option the defender and SecureKid are pretty awesome, friends and family use those. I don't care for nautilus since my kids always got horrid headslump in it.
