I use a lot of those snacks, my dd has a problem with milk as well, I've lost quite a bit of weight. Rice Dream Ice cream is good to and really fattening!

Re: Need Healthy, Dairy Free Ideas - I'm losing too much weight!

Just as an FYI, Rice Dream ice cream is NOT recommended to milk allergic individuals -- both for cross-contamination reasons and because some flavors (mint chip comes to mind) actually contain dairy. Why? I don't know -- makes zero sense, but it is true.

I loved Sunbutter for the day I got to eat it before my daughter reacted to the trace soy.

I think you've gotten some good ideas. Lots of baked goods with rice milk or potato milk as subs.

OK, I stop breathing if I have any dairy so I totally understand. There is a soy ice cream that is really good, SO Delicious, they state on their packaging that they take extra care to not cross contaminate and i have done good with it. Also Peanut butter as said, salmon, almond butter is really high in fat. I dont usually have trouble with weight so I have trouble thinking of hight fat. But I agree with protein for the hunger and maybe even the thyroid, this is the first time after 5 I am having trouble with mine. Good luck

My DD is allergic to dairy and gains weight very well despite it. Nothing else is limited in her diet (other than no nuts, peanuts, or fish yet).

Good fattening foods for her:

Silk ice cream and yogurt
Sunbutter and jam sandwiches (she usually has one a day )
Sunbutter with anything, carrots, pretzels, crackers, etc.
Tofutti sliced cheese with ham or turkey sandwiches
Meat, bean and salsa tacos/burritos/quesadillas
Oatmeal with silk and cranberries or raisins. I like to add walnuts to mine, or at least I did before I was BFing.

You have been given lots of great ideas so far.
My ds has lots of food allergies including dairy and had trouble keping my weight up for awhile what helped me was adding in healthy fats like olive oil.

Oilve oil is really good drizzled over pasta and potatos. I also cook with it to saute veggies like squash. You can also make a simple yet fattening salad dressing with olive oil lemon juice and a couple of you favorite spices.

hey mama, i'm with you on this one! You want things that are high in calories and don't require much chewing . I am allergic to gluten but I do eat dairy so I love to drink full fat kefir(I know some people that can't do dairy are okay with yogurts...) and I also like to keep lots of quick easy to eat things on hand like lara bars, jelly beans, (salty potatoe chips for when I'm really depleted)and stuff like gluten free banana bread. A slice of banana bread is pretty quick to eat and is packed with calories(or any other type of loaf).

Re: Need Healthy, Dairy Free Ideas - I'm losing too much weight!

I am in the same boat about loosing weight, and had like over 15 tests done, and they couldn't find a thing wrong, I'm on 3-4 scoops of whey protein power a day, which is a heckofa lotta calories, and it helps the hunger, but no weight gain.

But, I know how you feel...ugh... I weigh less than I did in H.S too, the worse part is, I can't ever fit into clothes right!!

Re: Need Healthy, Dairy Free Ideas - I'm losing too much weight!

I am going to second the avocado! I like my avocado as guacamole with corn chips and salsa. Avocado has a huge supply of healthy fats, so if you like them gorge! You can make avocado bread or soup and it goes well with garlic! Don't forget EGGS! They also go well with avocado.

Mmmm... Now I am hungry. I have gall stones so I am to avoid fats if possible or I end up in severe pain like I was last night... ugh... I miss avocados....
