Hoping for a sticky baby

I'm 20 weeks along with #2! My daughter was born at 25 weeks 1 day after a placental abruption (she's now 22 months and doing well), and we are expecting a boy in December. I'm getting progesterone shots to help prevent pre-term labor, but as I know from experience, things can be fine until they just aren't anymore, so it's a precaution that may or may not actually do me any good.

The next few weeks will be the hardest of the whole pregnancy for me since I know now what 22 weekers and 23 weekers and 24 weekers look like and the challenges they face when they're born that early. We were prepared for another micropreemie when we decided to get pregnant, and my first pregnancy goal is to make it to 25 weeks and 2 days - then 26 weeks, then 28 weeks, then 34 weeks, then - it hardly seems possible - 39 weeks when we've got our scheduled c-section. It is hard to believe I could have so much more time left to be pregnant.

I think the odds are really good. I'm pregnant after a preemie. Not a micro like you, my last was 33 weeks after 2 weeks of preterm labor and then a placental abruption. But my doctor told me before I got pregnant that I'll need to have the shots too. From what I've researched people have a lot of luck with them. They tend to go to 38 or 39 weeks. I'll be praying that we both get nice and chubby full term babies

I had a cerclage placed at 14 weeks and shots until 36 weeks with my last pregnancy due to my history of preterm delivery (30 weeks, and very nearly 23 weeks). With the shots I couldn't muster up a contraction if I tried and FINALLY went into labor at 40+ weeks. This time I'm on progesterone gel and it's not as effective as the shots for me so I'm a little nervous.

Re: Hoping for a sticky baby

Hope everything is going well for you! I had a 25+5 preemie who sadly only lived 27 days, but I also had a subsequent full-term birth. I had the progesterone shots with him. I'm now pregnant again and 32 weeks along, with no interventions other than better nutrition. Hoping your baby is still nicely baking!
