Re: Grocery shopping tonight...heres what I got & total
wow ... that's a big list! how often do you grocery shop?
I grocery shopped Saturday with cash for the first time (easing into the cash/envelope system) and hit $60 right on (actually, $58ish). And, that's for about 1 1/2 wks. I'm budgeting $200/mo. I tossed my list, but here's what I can recall w/ prices ... we also have 6% sales tax that I have to figure in. ETA: Non-sale items are in blue. 4 cans Hunts spaghetti sauce (69c each) romaine lettuce (89c) 3 lbs marg (1.80 - 60c each) bananas (39c) 2 16 oz bags pasta (75c each) 1lb green grapes ($1.29) 1.25 lb nectarines ($1.21) 2 64oz Old Orchard juice ($1.50 each w/ sale & coup) 2 8oz Gerber baby cereal ($1.09 each w/ coup) 4 pack 12-10" tortillas (1.25/each) 5 30 oz cans chili beans ($1/each) 28 oz can diced tomatoes ($1.32) ranch dressing (2.32) 12oz shredded cheese (4/$11) 16 oz Old El Paso salsa ($1.50) 10oz frozen spinach (94c) 5qt pail ice cream ($4.79) Nature Valley granola bars ($1.83 w/ sale & coup) saltines ($1.32) graham crackers ($1.33) cottage cheese ($2.29) p.s. I don't mean to hijack your thread, either ... just thought it'd be interesting to compare prices, especially since I'm shopping at small town grocery stores.

Wow you did get quite a bit...did you have any coupons or did you price match anything?
Will Wal*Mart price match Save A Lot.....I don't know I have never lived anywhere where there was one.....so I am not sure...but I know Wal Mart will price match other grocery stores...maybe that would help you? But AWESOME job mama...off to get my recipe and post what I got. |

Re: Grocery shopping tonight...heres what I got & total
Thanks!
Thats for 2wks-I had coupons for the yogurts but DH didn't ask if they were expired until I'd buried them (the yogurts) beneath all the food, otherwise they wouldn't have been bought & I didn't need the cottage cheese b/c I was gonna use it for stuffed jumbo shells but couldn't find any...it got buried as well. Then we almost ran into a fam member that I haven't talked to in over a yr for good reasons so I was trying to hurry ~sigh~ I just wanted to enjoy shopping. All that food goes to DH's lunches and bfast/lunch/dinner every night for 2wks for 2 adults and one toddler who loves to eat.

Re: Grocery shopping tonight...heres what I got & total
Not meaning to Hi Jack your thread but here is what I got I thought maybe we could look off each others and compare
-Degree Deodrant -Loreal Hair Dye (2) -Colgate Toothpaste (2) -Schick Razors for Hubby (bad Skin these are the one kind that don't give him MAJOR bumps) -Pork Rinds for Hubby -Tortillas -Egg Noodles -Big Bag of Rice -30 Medium Eggs -Hamburger Helper (10) -Snickers for Hubby -Brownie Mix -Cornbread Mix -Elbow Macaroni (Box) -Hot Pocket (Big Box of 14 I think?) -El Monterey Microwave Burritos (2) -Jar Salsa (2) -Frozen Juices (9) -Jar Spaghetti Sauce -15 pounds of Chicken Breasts (3 Bags) -10 pounds of organic grass fed Ground Beef -Aluminum Foil -Case of Dasani Water -Loaf of Bread (Wheat) -Three things of Cheddar Cheese -Box of Stuffing My Total was $79.49 I saved $23.52 in Kroger Discounts I had $44.50 in coupons And I got a 55 cent credit because I had 11 Chico bags (WOOHOO first trip with them) **I always buy Hot pockets and microwave burritos for DH for lunch some days he just needs things real quick so these are something he WILL eat that are quick. I had a ton of coupons for Hamburger Helper and it was on sale 10/$10 so I got 10 for a quarter a piece my hubby won't eat them but he travels for work so that is something that will be good for DD and me for dinner and then lunch the next day when he is gone. Tomorrow we are going to Trader Joe's to get Laundry Detergent, fruits and veggies, and other fill in food for the next two weeks. My grocery budget is $200 but I am trying to do it with $160 so if I spend $80 or less tomorrow I will do good. |

Re: Grocery shopping tonight...heres what I got & total
since you avoided the candy aisle completely I say you deserve cookies or brownies tonight(Homemade of course!). I'm having a killer craving for chocolate and sugar too!
This pregnant lady has a difficult time avoiding all the yummy cheese and crackers.

Nice shopping! I don't think Wal-Mart will pricematch Sav-A-Lot, though, since SAL is all their own off brands, you know??
