My DH does not believe that CDs are more cost effective. He is not agains it, but as we live in apartment and have to pay for every wash and dry and even when we would have our own washer, we thinks all the money for water and electric does not make it cheaper. So how do i explain to him hat all this diapers are initial cost and later buying detergent does not make it more expensive?Any body care to help out?

Re: So how do I covince him?
Tell him that the amount of water spent washing diapers is equivalent to the amount of a child using the bathroom each day. Does he complain that an older child regularly using the bathroom is a 'waste of water'? Then he shouldn't worry about diaper costs water-wise.
FWIW, Our water bill has risen by about $2.50 per month for washing our diapers, and our electric bill hasn't really changed at all that i've noticed.

Re: So how do I covince him?
Also explain that you will spend about $2,000 dollars (approximately) to use disposable diapers and disposable wipes on your child (and that's not for the expensive, name-brand diapers either!). Does he really think that energy and electric costs will total that much (plus a couple hundred for diapers?)

Re: So how do I covince him?
Here are some things to show him. Also, my water bill has risen only a few dollars every two months, and I haven't noticed an increase in the energy bill.

Re: So how do I covince him?
I initially told my husband we would save alot of money using cds. But we continue to do it because he sees how much better it has been on her little bum. She never had diaper rash or anything but now that she's getting a little older it's fun to let her pick out the diaper she wants to wear! He realizes how comfortable they must be on her and prefers her to be as comfortable as possibe!!
So even if it did end up costing more than your dh initially thought it would, try to remind him how much happier your little one is. And how much money you'll get back when you sell your stash!!! |

Re: So how do I covince him?
Ask him to put some paper towels down his pants and ask him how that feels....
I think the velour, fleece and sherpa is much more comfy on my son's tush than paper disposables ![]() |
