Anyone overdue have a Bio physical ultrasound?
Should I be nervous about this? or is it routine??
I googled it and basically it is a series of tests to determine the 'fetal well-being' of my baby. I read a little further and it started to scare me so I stopped. Should I be concerned?

Re: Anyone overdue have a Bio physical ultrasound?
It is relatively normal once mom's go over 40ish weeks. All they will do is put on the contraction/heartrate monitors like when you are in labor and make sure that the baby's heartrate is doing well. They will also do an ultrasound to estimate the fetal weight (which was almost 2 lbs off for me
) and measure the amount of amniotic fluid. I would highly recommend you are extremely well hydrated prior to your appointment for the BPP.I had one done when I was 41 weeks with my son. It was no problem except for the major scare tactics they gave me when they thought he was getting too big, even though they were waaaaay wrong on the estimate. My "9+ lbs" baby was born 9 days later at 7 lbs 5 oz. I hope this helps!

Re: Anyone overdue have a Bio physical ultrasound?
I think it's pretty common for being due or overdue.

Re: Anyone overdue have a Bio physical ultrasound?
I had one at 42 weeks and it was just like an extra long ultrasound, no monitors or anything. Nothing to be nervous about IMO, it made me feel better to know that my little one was still doing good

Re: Anyone overdue have a Bio physical ultrasound?
My last pregnancy was really high risk. The last month I had the bio physical exams 3 sometimes 4 times a week. It's just a really long u/s where they monitor fluid levels, breath like movements, physical movements, size, weight estimate. They may also do a non-stress test where they strap you to a monitor that records movements and contractions.

Re: Anyone overdue have a Bio physical ultrasound?
Okay, phew. Thanks for your replies. That does set my mind at ease. Hopefully I won't even make it to that appointment. I am hoping the Friday equinox sets things going....
