Diaper Swappers

Okay.. I tried to do a search.. but maybe that was in the old DS site..

I think my stash is well underway... (it needs to be... this addiction must slow down!) and well, now I'm on to the next big thing: baby legs.

I think they're a great idea! I always hated seeing poor little scooting babies on rugs.. ouch.

However, I need alternatives to BUYING baby legs... any suggestions that might have been talked about before? I've got some "cool" kneehigh socks from my college days (ah.. toe socks and burks.. those were the days) that I"d gladly cut the toes off and make them into baby legs...

Any ideas of people that have made their own? We're expecting a boy--but I"d like to go GN for future usage.

Help a future mama out with some power-DS brainstorming~!

I cut off the toes and then add a piece of elastic around the cut off part, then turn the bad edge under. I can usually do them pretty fast as long as my lines stay straight and I don't need to re-stitch! Some people just cut them off and then turn the edge, but I like that they are still stretchy with the elastic.

Too cute! Yeah, I guess I should have written that i plan on adding some elastic as well... those are too ocute!

i cut off the foot part and then sewed elastic to the raw edge. i also have a boy the only problem i had was finding boyish or GN colours of knee socks. and DH still thinks his son looks girly in them! lol (they are blue on blue stripes can't get any more boyish) oh well it's not going to stop me from putting them on him.

Yeah, that's the problem I ran into with boy colors and prints. If you look though, you can find some pretty GN or boy stripes. I had a ton of socks that I had bought at Kohl's Department Store a few years ago. I'm sure you could find something similar anywhere. They were getting holes in the toes and heels so I just cut them off and they work great. I am going to be putting some elastic on them though when I get around to it. Like normal socks, they fall down around his ankles if he's crawling around alot. I hope to do that before winter next year. Right now he's still mostly wearing pants or longies so I'm not too worried about it.

I got some socks at Target a few weeks ago for $2 a piece! HTH!

If you knit you can also knit baby-sized legwarmers

My mom just bought a sock machine and this is item #1 on my list of things I want to try if/when she ever lets me play with it.. I think a 8" long (or so) tube with 1" of ribbing at the top and bottom would work perfectly
