Does anyone make their own whipped cream? If so, with what and how???? I would like to get away from the store bought kind and start making my own. I would love any ideas or recipes for some....

Re: Whipped Cream???
MMM!!! Heavy whipping cream and either powdered or regular sugar...and just beat it until it gets thick like the stuff you buy. Great on homemade hot chocolate!!!

Re: Whipped Cream???
yep, I do the same thing - just whip heavy cream up with a little vanilla and powdered sugar - but if the dessert or whatever I am using it for is super sweet sometimes I don't even add the sugar - it still tastes great!
I used to used my kitchenaid mixer to make it but I recently discovered it is MUCH faster with my hand mixer!

Re: Whipped Cream???
a tsp. of cream of tarter will make it firmer if you are decorating a pie or something with it...but not necessary. Now the hot cocoa i am drinking seems inadequate...ha ha

Re: Whipped Cream???
I forgot to add if you have a Magic Bullet (which I do, and LOVE it!) it's so easy and quick!

Re: Whipped Cream???
Yeah, it's super easy, especially if you have an electric mixer. A little sugar to taste, and a teaspoon of vanilla are great. The higher the speed of the mixer, the faster it whips. I have accidently turned it to butter by walking away and leaving the mixer on for too long, so it's a good idea to scrape the sides while it's mixing.
It can be hand beaten too, but that takes a little more stamina. Use a whisk or balloon whisk if you have one. If you are stuck hand mixing it, it helps to have a bowl of ice or ice water to set the mixing bowl in. That helps it firm up faster, but is totally not required.

Re: Whipped Cream???
I do! It's the only kind I'll use now! Just buy heavy cream add a bit of white sugar and stick it in the magic blender! YUM! When I make it to serve with apple crisp in pumpkin pie I put some cinnamon in too!
When I first started this was the recipe I used, but now I wing it and have gotten used to less sugar. Whipped Cream: 1 pint heavy cream ¼ cup white sugar |
