Ok, so if you are touching baby, and then spread your two fingers into a V, maybe that would help? The last time I checked myself pre-pushing, I was 6cm. That was a pretty big stretch. When I checked right before pushing, at 10cm I'm assuming, I couldn't feel anything but baby/bag of water.

Did you say you can feel the baby directly...well, the bag of water, or can you feel the baby THROUGH something fleshy? Because its possible that you are feeling the baby through your vaginal wall too, I could feel the shape of dd's head below my cervix before I was more dilated (in the weeks leading up to labor), if that makes sense.
